Performer 'Finese 2Tymes' Arrested, Facing Federal Weapons Charges

Jul 3, 2017

The U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas announced Monday he's pursuing charges against the rapper Finese 2Tymes.

This promotional poster shows an oft-used picture of the Memphis rapper Finese2Tymes, a.k.a. Ricky Hampton, with an assault rifle.

Meanwhile, local authorities are still calling for the community to come forward with information about the Power Ultra Lounge mass shooting Saturday.

On Facebook, Ricky Hampton, aka Finese 2Tymes, posted his condolences for the shooting.

“THE VIOLENCE IS NOT FOR THE CLUB PEOPLE," he wrote Saturday. "WE ALL COME WITH 1 MOTIVE AT THE END OF THE DAY, AND THATS TO HAVE FUN."

Hours later, U.S. marshals picked him up before a performance in Birmingham Ala.

They found three guns in the car. Hampton is a convicted armed robber, and that’s illegal, the acting U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas says.

The complaint also said Hampton was involved in another club shooting, this one June 25 at Club Envy in Forrest City. In the lot outside, he pulled out an “AK-style pistol,” and shot a man in the neck.

That weapon has been seized, but not the weapons involved in the mass shooting in Little Rock, and police still have not announced any suspects, although they are conducting interviews and are asking for the community to come forward with information.

No bail has been set for Hampton, who has already served a six-year sentence in his home state.

A new Facebook post made Sunday has introduced the hashtag “Free2Tymes.”
